WISEWAY HIRES WAYNE CHAN
TO LEAD ASIAN SALES DIVISION

Hudson, WI, June 4, 2003 - Wiseway Transportation Services is pleased to announce the addition of Wayne Chan as Managing Director of Asian Sales, effective immediately.

In this role, Wayne will work with Wiseway's domestic furniture manufacturer customers who source and/or manufacture furniture in Asia. Wayne will help customers understand the possibilities of Asian manufacturing and what it can mean for their company - and present manufacturing, exporting and transportation solutions designed specifically for them.

"Furniture manufacturers began shifting production of product to Asia a few years ago, and that shift has picked up tremendous momentum," comments Rich Carl, Executive Vice President for Wiseway Transportation Services. "Wiseway's history in the furniture industry - coupled with our capability to move cargo throughout the world - enables us to be a strong partner for the home furnishings industry."

Wayne and Wiseway's Asian Sales Division will assist domestic furniture manufacturers with all aspects of the Asian manufacturing and export process, including:

  • Establishing a manufacturing strategy and/or facility in Asia
  • Navigating the complexities related to Asian duties/customs/export policies, and assisting with quality control issues
  • Delivering manufactured goods from factory to Asian port
  • Consolidating goods from several factories; Delivering to Asian Port
  • Managing ocean transportation at competitive rates
  • Replacing inefficient delivery systems with direct domestic shipping methods:
    o Direct delivery of containers from U.S. port of entry to home furnishings retailers
    o Breakdown of LCLs (partial containers) in regional warehouse, with direct delivery to numerous regional retailers

Wiseway was founded in 1988 as a specialized furniture carrier. The company has expanded to meet customers' total cargo movement needs via road, rail, air and ocean; utilizing both standard and expedited transportation services.
